Carl D. Marotta Named Exporter of the Year

Philadelphia, PA-The Philadelphia Office of the United States Small Business Administration and the Advocates for Small Business announced that Carl D. Marotta has been named Exporter of the Year for Eastern Pennsylvania. He was selected for the award because of his efforts in expanding worldwide markets resulting in increased sales and employment levels.

As President of TOLAS Health Care Packaging, Mr. Marotta has created a global market by developing and providing supplies, packaging and adhesive materials for the health care and other high technology markets. His efforts have grown the company from 30 employees in 1991 to its current level of 152 employees. The success of TOLAS can be attributed to Mr. Marotta's commitment toward creating a quality product and providing exceptional customer service.

Mr. Marotta has quietly and deliberately built a highly successful business that serves the U.S. and International markets by combining state-of-the-art processes with innovative ideas. His accomplishments can be attributed to a strong commitment to quality, service and performance as well as his solid technological capability and leadership.

SBA's Exporter of the Year award is given to an individual who has increased sales, profits and/or growth of employment as a result of creative overseas marketing strategies, effective solutions to export-related problems, demonstrated encouragement of other small businesses to export, voluntary assistance to other small businesses entering the export market, cooperation with other firms in the creation of export trading companies and/or introduction of unique trading relationships, products or services.

The President of the United States recognizes contributions of the small business community to the American economy and society by proclamation each year. National award winners will be honored during the National Small Business Week celebration, in Washington, D.C. during the week of September 15, 2003.

Marotta and other Eastern Pennsylvania small business award winners for 2003 will be honored locally at "SBA Day at the Vet 2003". This event is a cooperative effort of SBA and ASB, an organization of lenders, business and community leaders whose mission is to recognize the achievements of Eastern Pennsylvania's small business community. This annual awards event will be held this year on May 15, 2003 at Veteran's Stadium.
